Holiday Frummus and Pumpkin Gingerbread

As much as I dread the stress of the holiday season, there is no denying its presence. For relief I go to the kitchen, and this weekend I’ve come up with two very nice recipes.I have heard of frummus, but have never seen or eaten it, and the idea of fruity hummus is intriguing to me. I can’t imagine and certainly didn’t want anything sweet, so I decided cranberries would be perfect for my first frummus experiment. To make the frummus, I put together a low fat hummus recipe by using whole cran
Pasta with Marinara Sauce

Pasta that common ubiquitous food is not so common in our house. The most important reason being the pasta sauce and the texture of the pasta itself. The family though loves pasta so occasionally I would pick up a jar of pasta sauce from the grocery store but the amount of sodium gave me pause. Occasionally I would pick some "authentic" pasta sauces from World Market with a "Made in Italy" giving me all the reason to pick them up. So the quest for a good tasting pasta sauce continued till recent
Jubilation, sleep and a celebratory dinner

The last few weeks have been a blur. Working full time at a new job, knocking on doors for Obama, calling people in swing states, reading 538, Huff, and RCP with an obsessive zeal and all the while trying to avoid the hype. The 2000 and 2004 elections were sore spots on my psyche and I didn’t trust any of the polls that came out near the end. On election night I was prepared to stay up all night…no sleep until a winner was called or at least until we knew how bad the outcome was going to be.
